Aid to Spain, Finland also says yes

After Germany's yes, Spain breathes another sigh of relief. A second green light has arrived from Europe that is far from obvious. After a heated debate, the Finnish Parliament has approved the European aid plan for Spanish banks and the agreement on the counterparts offered by Madrid to Helsinki. Finland's participation in the 100 billion euro plan for Spanish lenders was approved with 109 votes in favor and 73 against, out of 200 members. The rest abstained.

Yesterday the same resolution was approved by the Bundestag with a very large majority: 473 votes in favour, 97 against and 13 abstentions. These votes were essential for the success of theExtraordinary Eurogroup this afternoon, when eurozone finance ministers meet by conference call to release funds destined for Madrid.
