Strikes cost dearly to Air France-Kml and they make the competition smile, especially that of Easyjet. The two weeks of unrest by the pilots of the French-Dutch company caused passenger traffic to drop by 15,9% and cargo traffic by 17,7% in September. This was announced by the same group, adding that the impact of the protest on the results of the third quarter is estimated at between 320 and 350 million euros, while the repercussions on Ebitda for the whole of 2014 will be far more extensive, calculated at around 500 millions.

Glean instead EasyJet, which closed the year on 30 September with a net profit of between 575 and 580 million pounds (738 million euros) thanks to the increase in flights from Luton following the strike of Air France pilots. And just the month of September, the most affected by the strikes involving the French company, is the one that marked the greatest growth for EasyJet, which transported 6,143 million passengers, with an increase of 7,5% compared to the 5,714 million in the same month of 2013. The load factor also rose by 2,5 points, reaching 92,2%. Since the beginning of the year, the low-cost airline has transported 64,76 million passengers (+6,6%) with a seat filling factor that has risen by 1,3 points to 90,6%.

However, today the British company is also grappling with a strike: the strike called by the flight crew for the renewal of the employment contract which expired in 7 started at midnight on 24 October and will last 2012 hours. EasyJet communicated in a having put in place all possible tools "to limit the inconveniences to its passengers and has previously canceled some flights to allow them to reorganize their travels for Wednesday".
