Air Berlin, delays and refunds for 10 million euros

Air Berlin forced to reimburse travelers for flight cancellations and delays – But the German airline's Black Friday does not end here: it is also accused before the European Court of Justice for service failures

Air Berlin, delays and refunds for 10 million euros

A black Friday for Air Berlin which incurs compensation to travelers exceeding 10 million euros. According to what was declared by the number one of the German airline, Winkelmann to the newspaper "Rheinische Post", the responsibility should however fall on Aeroground, the parent company of ground services, which would appear to have an unprofessional organizational structure and management and from which Air Berlin intends to obtain the recovery of the sum.

However, what comes from Germany is good news for travelers and consumer organizations and it is to be hoped that it will also spread to other countries.

But the troubles for Air Berlin didn't end there: the company was also sanctioned by the European Court of Justice, which, transposing the Union directive on unfair terms, ruled in favor of the German consumer associations who claimed the 25 euros deducted from refunds of tariffs to customers, by way of administrative costs. It was also specified that the various items on the final price to be paid to the airlines must be indicated separately, in order to guarantee the transparency of prices envisaged by the Union regulation on the management of air services.
