Agri-food: Amadori in pole position for Vismara cured meats

Amadori advances on Vismara: the historic Lombard company producing cured meats, which today is part of the Ferrarini group. The group is in composition with creditors and has given the go-ahead for the acquisition by the Italian agri-food giant, specialized in the poultry sector. The Amadori group could take over the majority shares of the Vismara brand, and in a note it made it known that it is “has been looking for possible investments in the cured meats market for some time, as part of a strategy to expand the product portfolio”. In this scenario, Vismara certainly represents a historic brand of delicatessen known both in Italy and abroad, even if the bankruptcy situation means that Amadori is still calmly analyzing and evaluating the operation, which is very complex.

According to rumors another meeting is scheduled for 18 February in which the purchaser of the industrial branch of Ferrarini, a group from Reggio Emilia which currently also owns Vismara, could also be announced. The parent company should always be taken over by an Italian company and not an investment fund, which will take over the entire Ferrarini production hub, maintaining production in the Reggio area and perhaps giving life to another plant. Currently the Ferrarini Group has about 800 employees and already in 2016 it had been divided into two parts. The industrial production of hams and cured meats had merged into the first, namely Ferrarini spa with its offices in Reggio Emilia and Parma, and Vismara with its factory in Casatenuovo in the Lecco area. All the other activities of the group merged into the second nucleus, in particular the agricultural company which owns it production of Parmigiano Reggiano, balsamic vinegar and wine. Basically the largest part of the assets.

Founded in 1969, Amadori, on the other hand, is a specialist in the poultry sector, has a market share of around 30% of total poultry meat in Italy and can count on the collaboration of over 7.600 employees. Amadori today stands out on the market for the integrated management of its supply chain, made up of: 6 feed mills, 7 hatcheries, over 800 farms, 6 food processing plants, 3 logistics platforms and 19 distribution centers including branches and agencies, which guarantee widespread throughout Italy.
