Revenue Agency: demoted executives sue the government

The director of the agency Rossella Orlandi denounced the difficulties in which she operates after the sentence of the Consulta: "The agency, thrown into chaos by the demotion of almost eight hundred managers, has remained standing only thanks to the dignity of the workers" - Undersecretary Zanetti he asks for his resignation, but the Treasury assures: "Confidence unchanged".

THEInland Revenue it's in the storm. The fuse that ignited the fire was the sentence of the Constitutional Court which declared the rule of law which led to the appointments of about 800 executives, since they took place without competition.

The 800 executives were demoted to civil servants, resulting in a halving of salaries. Many of them have resigned and as many as 400 have sued the Prime Minister and the director Rossella Orlandi, asking that they be recognized as permanent managers, or to be compensated.

A very difficult situation to manage and which, in recent days, has led to the declarations of Rossella Orlandi, in open controversy with the decision of the Council and with the Government: "It is a sociological experience that the Revenue Agency has remained standing, only thanks to the dignity of the people who work there, these people are aware of their function and their mission".

Statements that certainly caused some jolts in the Ministry of Economy. "If he continues to express his malaise and to say that the Agency is dying, resignation becomes inevitable" declared the undersecretary for the Economy Henry Zanetti. But the minister Pier Carlo Padoan and the director of the Revenue Agency have chosen the path of a meeting to find a solution to the problem that undoubtedly exists, and in this sense the Treasury has already expressed "unchanged esteem for director Rossella Orlandi"The calling of the competitions, which would make it possible to remedy the problem of managers, would in any case require a few months before producing results and this would, according to Orlandi, clash with the achievement of the anti-avoidance objectives for 2016. Therefore she turned to Padoan and he asked for guarantees, as Corriere della Sera writes today.

The affirmations of Zanetti (Scelta Civica), have thrown further fuel on a fire that is already quite lit on its own. Padoan's reassurances should have restored some calm. We will understand better in the coming days.
