Agcom at Wind-3: no more free chat and streaming

Galeotte were chat and streaming music. Wind Tre has received a warning from Agcom for the Wind Veon and Music by 3 offers, which do not consume the subscription and work even when the data traffic is finished.

This free use of the two applications, which do not stop despite the credit being exhausted, is a great advantage for Tre and Wind customers. But the Guarantor believes that in this way other music and chat services are discriminated against. In essence, customers are almost forced to listen to songs through Music by 3 and chat with Veon.

“The Authority – explains the note – has thus adopted the first provision on the subject of 'net neutrality', aimed at guaranteeing a network free from arbitrary restrictions”.

A conduct similar to that of Wind Tre was spontaneously interrupted by Tim, after the start of the preliminary investigations by Agcom.

With the provision adopted, the Authority clarified in detail the reference framework for zero-rating offers, those that do not calculate the traffic generated by or towards particular services or applications for the purpose of reaching the data traffic consumption thresholds.

These offers can be marketed on the condition that, upon reaching the general traffic limit envisaged by the offer, the same treatment is guaranteed for all types of traffic made.
