Another black day ahead for air travel. L'Enav (National flight assistance body), in fact, announced that on Tuesday 14 July the operating personnel adhering to the autonomous unions UNICA and ANPCAT called a national strike. respectively of 8 (from 10.00 to 18.00) and 4 hours (from 13.00 to 17.00).

The two acronyms, contrary to their federal counterparts, have not accepted the renewal of the category contract, and their strike would be instrumental in forcing the negotiations. A decision that puts flights on Tuesday at serious risk, even if essential services on the runways will be guaranteed.

For air transport, a new tile in a particularly complex moment, also due to difficulties of Fiumicino airport which, according to the alarm launched today by the president of ENAC Vito Riggio, in these conditions it will not be able to cope with the summer passenger traffic peak, scheduled for July 28th.

The fire last May, in fact, reduced the capacity of the Roman airport to 60%: “The situation – said Riggio on the sidelines of an ENAC conference – will be unsustainable from 28 July when will the traffic peak with 150 passengers per day, against the current 130. However, the decision rests with the Adr company and the director of the airport, Patrizia Terlizi”. To find out if the airport will be able to return to full operation, we will have to wait for 28 July.
