Rome airports: passengers at Fiumicino and Ciampino are growing

About 2,7 million passengers passed through Leonardo da Vinci last month alone. The increase in traffic is 5,9%, mainly driven by the international sector (+6,9%), with good performances also by the domestic sector (+3,9%).

In January, Aeroporti di Roma, a company 96% controlled by Atlantia which manages the Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, recorded over 3,1 million passengers, a number which in percentage terms represents a growth of 6% compared to the same period in 2016. Only the Leonardo da Vinci, last month, passed about 2,7 million passengers. The increase in traffic is 5,9%, mainly driven by the international sector (+6,9%), with good performances also by the domestic sector (+3,9%).

The domestic market has volumes exceeding 850.000 passengers, with Southern Italy and the Islands confirming themselves as the main growth driver. The international market recorded over 1,8 million passengers, with an increase of approximately 117.000 passengers, compared to the same period of 2016.

As far as foreign markets are concerned, the growth is driven by the European EU market (+6,7%, with an increase of around 70.000 passengers. Central/South America (+29,6%), the Middle East, (+ 13%) and the Far East (+8,1%).

Also noteworthy is the excellent performance of Ciampino which, in January, recorded a 6,4% increase in passengers compared to 2016, mainly thanks to the EU market.
