Airports: in Rimini you land and take off thanks to the satellite

Enav, the company that manages civil air traffic in Italy, has equipped theRimini airport new procedures to reduce time and consumption. They are called Required Navigation Performance (Rnp) and allow aircraft to follow extremely precise routes thanks to the use of satellite navigation systems. The routes calculated with this technology, ENAV assures, "guarantee optimal management of traffic flows".

Thanks to the new procedures, "Rimini airport will be able to benefit from an increase in operations in certain circumstances - explains the Authority - In particular, some limitations, due for example to the weather conditions and particularly penalizing at peak traffic times, they will fail".

This will translate "into greater efficiency - continues the note - with a reduction in flight times and any waiting times for both arriving and departing aircraft, with environmental benefits in terms of lower fuel consumption and emissions" .

Secondo Alessio Quaranta, director general of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC), "the satellite procedures that are being implemented go in the direction of further streamlining the air transport and air navigation system, also with the aim of optimizing the national airspace that allows for an increasingly sustainable use of it”.

Paolo Simioni, managing director of Enav, emphasizes instead that “Rimini is an important port of call for the tourist development of the entire neighboring area. Thanks to this implementation there will be immediate benefits for the territory and for all related industries”.
