Planes and airports: the ranking of the most punctual companies and airports in the world

The most punctual airline in the world? It comes from cold Latvia and is called Air Baltic. The most punctual stopover? Heneda, Tokyo. By putting them together, perfection is achieved.

These are the winners of the respective categories of 2015, these are the best. To say it is Oag, the analysis company that owns the largest database on civil transport at thirty-five thousand feet. Crossing over 50 million connections, Oag has drawn up a dossier consisting of fifteen rankings, based on geographical location, size, traffic and type.

Italy? Out of the rankings and worsening compared to 2014.

Aircraft, general classification

As stated earlier, the most punctual carrier in 2015, considering the traditional ones as well as the low-cost ones is airBaltic. The company's planes took off and landed on schedule 94,39% of the time. Copa Airlines (Panamá) follows with 91,69% and the Brazilian Azul (91,03%).

Speaking of Europe, Norwegian Air Shuttle is in first place (86,67%). Jet2.com, Germanwings, Transavia, easyJet and Vueling also did well. Ryanair would theoretically be the best, but was not included in the rankings as it did not provide OAG with 80% of its flight data. No Italian company is present in the top 20 positions in the standings.

Airports

In the «small stopovers» category, Osaka wins. Charleroi-Brussels and Panama City also did well. As far as Italy is concerned, we have good news and bad news. The good news is that Linate airport managed to enter the top 20, finishing in 19th place. The bad news is that it has lost eleven positions, given that in 2014 it was eighth. In the medium-sized airports category, the first step of the podium was conquered by Copenhagen, closely followed by Moscow Sheremetyevo (88,53% against 88,48 %) which in turn surpasses Helsinki by a whisker (88,43%). Finally, among the major hubs, Tokyo Haneda wins, ahead of Munich and the San Paolo-Guarulhos airport (Brazil).

Rome Fiumicino is not among the top 20 - also due to the accidents recorded during the past year - while it was 17th twelve months ago. Speaking of Italy, a record finally arrives: Orio al Serio (Bergamo) wins in the category "structures with the highest improvement rates", rising from 62,8% to 86,9%.
