Giacomo Vaciago, one of the most brilliant economists of Romano Prodi's school, disappeared during the night in Piacenza, where in the past he had been mayor for the centre-left.
Professor emeritus of the Catholic University of Milan and acute commentator, never banal and very far-sighted, Vaciago was economic consultant to the Presidency of the Council, the Treasury and the Bank of Italy.
In addition to being one of the most famous economists, Vaciago had a great civil passion and a great passion for journalism and right up to the end, despite the illness that had struck him, he was always available to write, comment and give interviews on main economic and financial facts.
He will be greatly missed but his cultural, moral and civil lesson we will not forget.
FIRSTonline, to whom Vaciago has often given wonderful interviews, offers his deepest condolences to the family.
