Farewell to Squinzi, patron of Mapei and former leader of Confindustria

It disappears George Squinzi, former president of Confindustria and sole director of Mapei, a jewel of made in Italy chemistry, which was founded by his father Rodolfo way back in 1937.

Born 76 years ago in Cisano Bergamasco, in the province of Bergamo, Squinzi had been ill for some time but had never left his positions, both in business and in associations and sports. In addition to being the owner of Mapei, Squinzi , politically Berlusconi, had been president of Confindustria from 2012 to 2016 and owned the football club Sassuolo, which step by step led to the limelight of Serie A, after a previous passion for the Cycling, abandoned due to the horror aroused by the doping scandal.

He will be remembered above all in industry for Mapei's exploit and in sport and for the Sassuolo miracle, which is the most popular in football. Like many mid-sized entrepreneurs, Squinzi has never loved the stock market and his group has never been listed on Piazza Affari, but Mapei is a family multinational that expresses the best of Made in Italy and is present on markets all over the world, from Europe to America, from Russia to the Far East .

Squinzi is leaving a healthy company that boasts 80 factories around the world and employs 10 people with an annual turnover of 2,5 billion euros. Much more than in Confindustria, where his presidency did not shine, it was in the company that Squinzi gave his best and, moreover, it is not the first case of an excellent entrepreneur who does not reveal the same qualities in a completely different role such as that of president of a large business organization.

The Municipality of Sassuolo, in the province of Modena, has proclaimed a day of mourning to coincide with the funeral of the "great friend, man and great entrepreneur" who passed away.
