Goodbye to Gorbachev, the father of Perestroika who changed history, but Russian TV does not report the news

Farewell to Mikhail Gorbachev, the father of Perestroika (restructuring) and Glasnost (transparency) of theSoviet Union who changed history, died at the age of 91 in hospital after a long illness. Nobel Peace Prize winner "for his leading role in the radical changes in relations between East and West", Gorbachev put an end to the Cold War with courage and determination and was the protagonist of the fall of the Berlin Wall that changed the world. He also tried to reform the USSR but with less success and in fact still today the most conservative part of the Russia he reproaches him for having smashed the Soviet Union, of which he was the last president. Of course, it is no coincidence that yesterday Russian TV did not even give the news of his disappearance, which was communicated only by Tass and the web. President Vladimir Putin he coldly limited himself to saying: “I will write to Gorbachev's family”.

GORBACIOV MORE LOVED ABROAD THAN AT HOME

As Gorbachev was loved abroad, he was detested at home. Over him the Russians are divided. Those who regret him remember him as the leader "who gave us freedom" and those who criticize him maintain that Gorbachev "lost our country". Putin certainly also subscribes to this second current of thought, who has always considered the end of the USSR as "the greatest geopolitical catastrophe" to which he is now trying to respond with the aggressive invasion of Ukraine and with the dream of recovering with blood the greatness of the Russian Empire.

GORBACHEV WAS THE FIRST TO SEE THE RISK OF NUCLEAR WAR IN THE INVASION OF UKRAINE

Putin is today the complete opposite of what Gorbachev was who, although ill and tried by the disappearance of his wife Raissa, continued over the years to ask the Kremlin but also the White House to reduce the military arsenals and who saw first in the Russian invasion of Ukraine the risk of a nuclear war.
