Acea in the field for the Rome waste-to-energy plant: expression of interest with Hitachi, Vianini and Suez

Acea Environment, subsidiary of the Acea group for waste management, presented its expression of interest for the Rome waste-to-energy plant by noon on 1 March, Acea Ambiente is at the head of a temporary grouping of companies and filed its offer within the set deadline from Roma Capitale for the presentation of project financing proposals for the design, construction and management of the waste-to-energy plant envisaged in the Roma Capitale Waste Plan. Within the week, at the end of the administrative verification of the submitted documentation, the Commission for the technical and economic assessment of the project will be set up. The work of the Commission will last 60 days at the end of which an opinion will be expressed which will be the basis of the tender for the construction and assignment of the waste-to-energy plant. The publication of bando di gara is expected by August 1st, theconstruction site opening by July 2024 and the start-up of the plant by the summer of 2026.

Acea leads the grouping of companies for the waste-to-energy plant

Acea Ambiente presented its expression of interest together with important national and international partners, such as Hitachi Zosen Inova, Vianini Lavori and Suez, following the favorable decisions of the competent corporate bodies of Acea Ambiente itself and of Acea (also pursuant to the provisions of the Procedure for Transactions with Related Parties of the Acea Group).

Today, with the presentation of the expression of interest, Acea confirms the Group's development strategies in the environmental and circular economy sectors with ever-growing attention to sustainability and the local area". 

In recent years Acea Ambiente, specifies a press release from the group, "has invested constantly in these sectors and, thanks to the numerous acquisitions of companies and plants, as well as the development of its own plants, significantly increased both the volume of waste treated, reaching 1,6 million tonnes of waste recovered, recycled and disposed of, and the level of EBITDA (83,2 million Euros in the first 9 months of 2022), strengthening its position at the national level”. Acea is the leading operator in central Italy, where it manages various industrial sites including two waste-to-energy plants, in Terni and San Vittore nel Lazio.
