Acea-Enea: agreement on waste and water

Agreement between Enea and Acea on the sustainable management of waste and water resources. The CEO of the Capitoline subsidiary, Stefano Donnarumma, and that of the energy agency, Federico Testa, have signed a memorandum of understanding which provides for a collaboration on the circular economy.

In detail, Enea will provide skills, platforms and infrastructures in order to provide Acea with innovative technologies and solutions to be applied to the company's industrial projects, above all as regards the treatment of waste and water, in line with the Industrial Plan of society.

“Innovative technological solutions may be the object of the collaboration to reduce the environmental impacts associated with the construction of new plants, for the valorisation of compost and the application of biotechnologies to integrated agro-industrial supply chains and districts on the territory, as well as the development of smart services such as delocalized composting systems”, explain the two companies in a joint note.

The protocol has a duration of four years and provides that the performance of the individual activities is regulated by specific agreements between the parties which will determine the implementation and operational details.

"We are very satisfied with the start of this process with ENEA, the most important Italian public body in the sector of technological research and innovation with international relevance", commented the CEO of Acea Donnarumma. "I am sure that our industrial processes will benefit from the important value brought by ENEA, in terms of greater operational efficiency, resilience and less impact on the territories in which we operate".

"This agreement with the largest multi-utility in central-southern Italy for the development of projects in the circular economy sector opens up prospects of great interest at a strategic and operational level with significant repercussions for the territory", added ENEA President Federico Testa , confirming the total scientific and technological support to Acea also in view of its inclusion in the European networks and in the national platform ICESP - Italian Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, coordinated by ENEA.
