Acea: focus on artificial intelligence and big data at the Innovation Day

Artificial intelligence and big data at the center of Acea's Innovation Day, a day on the theme of innovation for companies and startups, during which a round table was held on "Innovation and the sustainable future of multiutilities, between artificial intelligence, use of data and new organizational models” which was attended, in addition to the CEO of the Acea Group, Stefano Donnarumma, the CEO of A2A, Valerio Camerano, the CEO of Terna, Luigi Ferraris, the CEO of Italgas, Paolo Gallo, the CEO of Open Fiber, Elisabetta Ripa, and Professor Vincenzo Loia, professor of Management & Innovation Systems at the University of Salerno.

During the meeting, the six managers outlined the scenarios and the changes that innovation and artificial intelligence will produce within the economy and society, especially in terms of organization and employment. The challenge for everyone will be to be able to exploit the potential of new technologies, putting them at the service of their industrial vocation.

“On the one hand, in fact, it is necessary to continue with the implementation of artificial intelligence and the use of data in the network control and management processes, on the other, it is necessary to remember the main role of those who work on the infrastructures, i.e. to improve constantly improve the efficiency, safety and resilience of its assets”, underlined the managers.

During the day, Acea presented the smart street lamp, with cameras and sensors to monitor air quality and weather conditions, as well as drones for thermographic inspections, useful for detecting leaks in heating pipes, and a series of tools with high technological value aimed at guaranteeing real-time monitoring of the entire corporate services network.

Among the products presented, also the Water Management System, used to analyze and monitor data and information from the water network and the new digital control room which remotely controls over 1800 plants and over 7000 km of water network in real time.
