The intergovernmental agreement was signed today between Albania, Greece and Italy for the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, the gas pipeline thanks to which Azeri gas will reach Europe for an initial flow rate of 10 billion cubic metres.

Today Albania, Greece and Italy signed the agreement in Athens for the construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the gas pipeline which, passing under the sea, will bring Azeri gas to Europe for an expected flow rate of 10 billion cubic meters, with the possibility, in the future, of increasing it up to 20.

This was announced in a statement released by the special consortium for the Tap, and follows the signing of the agreement by the Italian Minister of Development Corrado Passera, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitris Avramopulos and the Albanian Minister of Energy, Edmond Haxhinasto

The intergovernmental agreement between the three States, as stated in the note, “strengthens one set of key commitments between the three governments for the development, construction and future operation of the TAP pipeline. Within the framework of the Community Treaties and the Energy Community Treaty, the trilateral intergovernmental agreement will ensure cooperation between the States for the punctual construction of the gas pipeline”.
