Abi: bank robberies have decreased by over a third

In 2014 there were bank robberies reduced by more than a third compared to the previous year. This was revealed by the Intersectoral Report on Predatory Crime presented by the ABI on the occasion of the 2015 safety day.

From the report produced by Ossif, the ABI research center, one emerges overall reduction of criminal phenomena to the detriment of local and public establishments. In particular, the most evident decrease is recorded for bank robberies which, in 2014, decreased by over a third (-36,5%). Criminal episodes committed in post offices (-24,5%), in pharmacies (-14,2%), in petrol stations (-14,1%), in tobacconists (-12%), in shops also decreased (-10,1%) and in public establishments (-7,8%).

On the occasion of the day for safety 2015, the ABI and the police forces signed a protocol that strengthens collaboration to prevent and combat the phenomenon of bank robberies. Indeed, the Italian Banking Association and the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior have signed a memorandum of understanding to consolidate mutual cooperation and facilitate the acquisition and exchange of data. The aim of the agreement is to make the prevention measures and safety safeguards in the bank increasingly modern and efficient.
