Abi: bank robberies are down, -28,4% in 2016

In the first nine months of the year, there were 298 hits at the counter, against 416 in the same period of 2015 - Robberies in Lazio have almost halved, while Lombardy is the region where the most hits are carried out at the bank - Also down the risk index, from 1,8 to 1,3.

They keep decreasing bank robberies. In the first nine months of 2016, in fact, there were 298 shots made at the counter, with a drop in Present in several = 28,4% compared to 416 in the same period of the previous year. It also decreases the so-called risk index – that is, the number of robberies every 100 branches – which has increased from 1,8 to 1,3. To say it is the report of Ossif, the Abi research center on security, and presented on the occasion of the 2016 Security Day organized by the Italian Banking Association.

In the former three quarters of 2016, robberies decreased in: Abruzzo (-44,4%, from 9 to 5), Basilicata (-75%, from 4 to 1), Calabria (16,7%, from 6 to 5), Campania (-25,9 .27%, from 20 to 26,5), Emilia Romagna (-49%, from 36 to 42,9), Lazio (-56%, from 32 to 11,9), Lombardy (-59%, from 52 to 61,5), Marche (-13%, from 5 to 50), Puglia (-22%, from 11 to 24,6), Sicily (-61%, from 46 to 31,7), Tuscany (-41% , from 28 to 57,1), Umbria (-7%, from 3 to 41) and Veneto (-24%, from 14 to 2). No bank heists in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Sardinia, Trentino Alto Adige and Valle d'Aosta. The robberies in Liguria remain unchanged (only nine). Instead, increases occurred in: Molise (0 robberies out of 29) and Piedmont (24 robberies out of XNUMX).

The results of the seventh were also presented during the conference Intersectoral Report on Predatory Crime, created by Ossif in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and with the contribution of FIT (Italian Federation of Tobacconists), Federfarma, Federdistribuzione, Confcommercio, Assovalori, Unione Petrolifera, Anie Sicurezza and Poste Italiane.

From the study - which analyzes the robberies carried out in 2015 in banks, post offices, tobacconists, pharmacies, commercial establishments, clubs, public establishments, large-scale distribution companies and petrol stations, comparing the various sectors - it emerges that the robberies reported in Italy during 2015 there were 34.957, with a decrease of 10,9% compared to 2014 and 20,1% compared to 2013. The figure confirms a reduction in crimes for all the categories analysed. In particular, the most evident drop is recorded for robberies at petrol stations (-23,4%) and robberies in tobacconists (-15,3%).

The Ossif Report underlines that the positive trend that has characterized the phenomenon in recent years is also the result of the joint work of banks and law enforcement agencies.
