A2A: sharp drop in profits in the first 9 months of 2011. Electricity sold is growing

The main causes of this deterioration can be identified in the different capital gains generated in the first half of 2010 with the sale of Alpiq and in 2011 with the sale of Metroweb, as well as in the result of Transalpina di Energia. Sales of methane gas and heat decreased, above all due to the climatic trend.

Third quarter of 2011 negative for A2A. In fact, the Milan and Brescia utility recorded a profit of 114 billion euros, down on the 436 million obtained in the same period last year. The main causes of this deterioration can be identified in the different capital gains generated in the first half of 2010 with the sale of Alpiq and in 2011 with the sale of Metroweb, as well as in the result of Transalpina di Energia. Revenues, equal to 4.351 million euros , are instead up by over 310 million mainly thanks to the consolidation of the subsidiary Epcg.

The net financial position amounted to 3,9 billion euros, with an increase of 42 million euros compared to December 2010, but a decrease of 349 million euros compared to September 2010.
