A2a, agreement with Ardian for green hydrogen

The two realities will be partners with the common goal of selecting the most suitable sites to integrate the existing plants for the production of electricity from renewable sources and the production of hydrogen.

A2a, agreement with Ardian for green hydrogen

Agreement between the investment company Ardian (through EMS-Energy Management Services, its Italian platform for renewable and innovative energy sources) and the Italian multi-utility A2A, for a cooperation related to the development of the use of thegreen hydrogen. In particular, the agreement will aim to identify potential areas of collaboration for the production of hydrogen green from renewable sources.

Another strategic element to favor the process of decarbonisation of consumption in which A2A is engaged".

Mathias burghardt, Head of Ardian Infrastructure, commented: “This collaboration with A2A is a great opportunity to consolidate Ardian's strategy in the sector and promote the integration between the production of green hydrogen and renewable energies, especially in southern Italy where Ardian is present since 2007 with several wind farms. Ardian manages approximately 5GW of renewable assets globally and has a historical presence in Italy with over 500MW of installed capacity. Our commitment to sustainable investment in renewable energy infrastructure is very strong and green hydrogen is an important part of its strategy fully aligned with the EU's climate change goals”.

As stated in a note, with this agreement both parties will share the common goal of selecting the most suitable sites where an integration between plants for the production of electricity from renewable sources existing or planned and hydrogen production units. Different plant configurations will be evaluated for an important use of green hydrogen, in order to identify a real pilot plant that both parties can decide to develop in the next phase of the partnership.

The news gave a strong boost to the A2a stock on the Stock Exchange, on a sluggish day for the markets: in Piazza Affari, just before lunchtime, the stock of the Lombard multiutility gains 2,8%, at almost 1,3 euros per share.
