At the table with augmented reality: the first multi-sensory restaurant in Italy at Aleph

Disembark in Rome ithe first restaurant multisensoriale of Italy: on the wave of success found in thirty European countries and in the East, arrives in the Coffee House of theAleph Rome Hotel, five-star luxury behind Via Veneto, a lunch-show that involves the patrons in the round, with images, sounds and flavours. The protagonist will be the smallest chef in the world created in 2015 by the Belgian art collective Skullmapping. With the use of video mapping and augmented reality techniques guests will see the adventures of the little chef unfold before their eyes, who in an ironic and engaging projection goes through a thousand adventures and tries his hand at preparing the dishes of his recipes among a thousand unexpected and funny misadventures. Thanks to this 3D projection technique the table turns into a dynamic display on which the preparations of the tiny character are ironically displayed, from the search for raw materials to the final composition. Once the projection is completed, the virtual experience passes to the sensory one; the waiters will serve diners the same dish that Le Petit Chef has prepared in the cartoon, which will be the same as the virtual one. Everything is repeated for the number of courses on the menu. The dishes of the Aleph in Via Tolentino will be prepared, with a personal touch, by the Executive Chef of the hotel restaurant, Carmine Buonanno, of Benevento origins, trained at the court of the legendary 2-star Michelin restaurant Don Alfonso 1890 in the kitchen of Alfonso Iaccarino, then passed through the Gran Melia Villa Agrippina in Rome, to then land in the kitchens of Aleph.

”In April 2015 – tell the creators of Skullmapping – we came up with the idea of projecting a little chef onto the plate. We made a video of “Le Petit Chef” in our studio in Belgium, to show restaurants what the possibilities of this concept are. After we posted the video on YouTube, it went viral and currently has over 30 million views on social media."

An extravagant and innovative experience adopted by 50 restaurants around the world

“At first we were overwhelmed by the reaction to Le Petit Chef,” admits Filip Sterckx. “We were hoping to do an event or two with this concept, but when the video went viral our inbox exploded with requests from all over the world! Since then we have created five different dishes, from appetizer, main course to dessert, transporting participants from a snowy landscape to a tropical island, all while remaining seated at their table. L'experience is whimsical and fun, for children between the ages of 1 and 100”.

Le Petit Chef will try their hand at preparing different menus, which can be chosen by the guests: "Le Grand Chef" (Burrata di Andria with salted crumble tomato jelly, red and yellow datterini tomatoes confit and mixed salad, Shellfish and crustacean soup with its stew and potatoes, Risotto with lobster, Oscietra caviar, salicornia and lime cream, Pink point beef tenderloin with variation of vegetables, greens and red wine sauce, Dark chocolate flan with vanilla ice cream) and “Le Petit Chef classic” ( – Burrata di Andria with savory crumble jelly tomato, confit red and yellow datterini tomatoes and mixed salad, Shellfish and crustacean soup with its stew and potatoes, Ravioloni filled with ricotta and citrus fruits with lobster sauce, Roman-style Saltinbocca with sage sauce and grilled vegetables, Dark chocolate flan with vanilla ice cream), and "Le Petit Chef Vegetarian", also with five courses and the inevitable menu dedicated to the youngest "Junior Chefs", with dishes designed for their tastes.
