Trenitalia hackathon in Rome Termini

Enrichment of the customer's travel experience, improvement of the assistance and information service to accompany those traveling by train and other means of transport door to door. Technological innovations in the field of occupational safety. These are the topics on which over 100 startuppers, developers, makers and digital creatives will compete day and night in the Moving Forward Hackathon organized by Trenitalia and Codemotion.

The non-stop marathon – Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September – at the LuissEnlabs spaces in Roma Termini, aims to find original technological solutions to expand the customer experience and enhance control systems, with the support of the IoT, on worker health and accident prevention. The first challenge, in line with the industrial plan of the FS Group, is divided into four sub-categories: integrated ticketing, check-in and check-out on board the train and in the station, purchase of products ancillary to transport, voice interaction mechanisms for virtual assistance. The second is focused instead on the development of innovative devices to protect the health of employees.

Introductory panel in the presence of Carlotta Ventura, Director of Brand Strategy and Communication of FS Italiane, Danilo Gismondi, Director of Information Systems Department of Trenitalia, and Paolo Masini, Trenitalia Technical Department. The digital evolution of the company and of Trenitalia's customers can be measured by the constant growth in downloads of the FS Group transport company's App, which allows you to purchase and manage your ticket and receive a smart caring service through notifications in real time on your trip.

To date, there have been over 2,7 million downloads and 4 million tickets sold, while the trenitalia.com site – first in the Italian travel world for accesses, with many functions for managing the customer journey – has totaled more than 140 million accesses and sold about 25 million tickets. Over 50% of Frecce tickets (Frecciarossa, Freciargento and Frecciabianca) are now digital and the channel's sales continue to grow. A similar trend for electronic travel tickets for regional transport: in one year the overall growth rate of digital tickets sold was 46%, those via the App were 118%.
