In Los Angeles, the restaurant with a cannabis menu

“Lowell Farms – A Cannabis Café” is forbidden to under 21s (according to Californian law) and does not serve alcohol: chef Andrea Drummer revisits the dishes in a… amazing way.

In Los Angeles, the restaurant with a cannabis menu

While it is still being discussed in Italy, in some countries in the western world it is becoming legal to sell marijuana for recreational purposes: among these there are some US states, such as California, which from 1 January 2018 legalized cannabis following to a referendum. Since, the substance can be purchased by people aged 21 or over, who can own up to an ounce (about 28 grams) of it and grow up to six plants of it in their home. Recreational use also provides that marijuana (if treated to make it edible) can also be eaten and it is in fact possible to find biscuits or other derivative products. But in California, someone decided to go further and opened a farm restaurant entirely dedicated to marijuana.

“Lowell Farms – A Cannabis Café” (this is the name of the venue), in Los Angeles, is a sort of coffee shop in a food version. The coveted plant obviously grows in the garden, decorates the walls, is infused into coctkails and even appears on the menu: a unique experiment of its kind, where chef Andrea Drummer, a former student of the Le Cordon Bleu haute cuisine school, has created dishes and recipes for all meals, from breakfast to brunch to dinner. Some examples? the Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich with coleslaw, bacon and crispy chicken and a herb-based sauce. Or the nachos enriched with a tamarind sauce, cannabis and spicy vegetables. Even the typical American hamburger is revisited in an "amazing" key: it is prepared with a special green mayonnaise and above all the fillet is seasoned with "cannabutter", cannabis butter.

And that's not all: vaporizers for "cold-pressed cannabis oil" can also be ordered at the table. In short, the first restaurant in the world with a cannabis menu produced directly in the large garden in front. There are only two limitations: obviously, the under 21s cannot enter the club (who are also theoretically prohibited from consulting the website), and, in full Californian healthy style, alcohol is banned. In return, marijuana can also be smoked, but only in the designated smoking area: a nice outdoor area, obviously surrounded by greenery.
