The 27 member countries of the European Union have reached an agreement for the UCR supportaina, including military, for a value of 50 billion euros: this was announced by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. The communication, also shared on social networks, would have followed a green light in Brussels also from the Hungarian government Viktor Orbán.
The package agreed by the 27 EU leaders
In one post, after the word “unity,” Michel reported that “all 27 leaders agreed on a further 50 billion support package euros for Ukraine within the framework of the EU budget”. According to the President of the European Council, “this ensures constant, long-term and predictable funding” for Kiev. Michel concluded: “The EU is taking the lead and responsibility in supporting Ukraine; we know what is at stake."
Ukraine, Zelensky's thanks
The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky he said he was “grateful to Charles Michel and the EU leaders for the establishment of the 50 billion euro instrument for Ukraine for the period 2024-2027”. In a tweet, Zelensky underlined that "it is very important that the decision was taken by all 27 leaders, which once again demonstrates the strong unity of the EU." The Ukrainian leader then added that “the EU's continued financial support to Ukraine will strengthen long-term economic and financial stability, which is no less important than military assistance and sanctions pressure on Russia”.
