There are 250 restaurants in Italy where you can eat well, enjoying refined and classy cuisine, without breaking the bank with exorbitant bills as happens in starred restaurants. They are the ones certified by the Michelin Guide and awarded the Bib Gourmand qualification, characterised by the smiling face of the Michelin Man licking his chops.
Great value restaurants in every corner of Italy
The Bib Gourmand is in fact the pictogram that indicates a restaurant that offers a pleasant gastronomic experience, with a complete menu at an excellent quality-price ratio in all corners of Italy, from large cities to small towns reachable via dirt roads.
As a preview of the launch of the 70th edition of the MICHELIN Guide Italy, which will consecrate in Modena on November 5th, the Gotha of the Italian starred firmament, the new Green Stars but also the Special Awards, created to celebrate the diversity of professions in the restaurant industry, Michelin has announced the ranking of the new Bib Gourmand restaurants awarded this year, which are 16 out of the 250 establishments identified this year.
Restaurants where the passion for food is a priority, creating a Bib Gourmand atmosphere
Il quality-price ratio is certainly an essential element in the selectionand – explains Sergio Lovrinovich, Director of the MICHELIN Guide Italy – but the priority is the passion for food that creates the atmosphere of Bib Gourmand restaurants, where you can taste recipes often inspired by tradition.
Among the novelties of the 2025 selection we find the Ronchi Rò of Dolegna del Collio, an old farmhouse located on the Slovenian border, which offers cuisine inspired by the traditional dishes of the region and promotes local artisan producers and suppliers. In Podenzano we also find the Pavesi Brothers Inn, which offers traditional Piacenza dishes, sometimes in a modern guise, while in Teramo there is space for Oishi International Cuisine, which combines Japanese cuisine with Mediterranean products. Finally, Bro's Trattoria in Scorrano, Lecce, where the must is the wood-fired oven in which almost all the specialities on the daily menu are cooked: strictly traditional recipes, to be accompanied with pucce salentine, the typical local bread, and excellent appetizers.
The regions with the most Bib Gourmands are: Emilia-Romagna 33 bibs, Piedmont 31 bibs, Lombardy 25 bibs, Tuscany 25 bibs.
