After days of talks, warnings and counter-warnings, the match on TV rights for the 2015-2018 Serie A seems finally closed. Sky receives all the matches of the three Championships in question on the satellite platform, while Mediaset forfeits the matches of the eight most important teams on digital terrestrial. The two broadcasters will spend respectively 572 and 373 million euros.
According to what is learned, this would be the compromise reached to end hostilities. An agreement which, overall, will bring 945 million euros to Lega Calcio's coffers, about 130 less than the solutions proposed so far. In detail, Murdoch's group makes its own lots A (his was the highest offer) and D (Sky's offer was third after Mediaset and Fox. Eurosport fourth). Mediaset, on the other hand, gets lot B, despite an offer lower than those of Sky and Fox.
The League must now hope that neither Mediaset, nor above all Sky (which had made the highest offer for digital terrestrial) present an appeal. Meanwhile, in Piazza Affari the share of Mediaset gains 2,41%, to 3,488. One of the best raises of the Ftse Mib.
