Today thefirm , company they are strictly connected thanks to sustainability, which revolutionized the dynamics between business, consumers, markets and society. This transformation represents an opportunity and challenge for companies of all sizes, who recognize the importance of integrating sustainability into governance to create long-term value.

According to research by PwC with Assolombarda, despite Milan is the leader in Lombardy for the drafting of thesustainability information, only the 15% of companies subject to the new European CSRD directive prepares a sustainability report.

“Milan is the leader in Lombardy in terms of the number of companies that prepare sustainability information. However, only 15% of companies falling within the scope of the new European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) prepare a sustainability report – he declared Giovanni Tronchetti Provera, Vice President of Assolombarda with responsibility for Sustainability. This suggests the need to "communicate the importance of integrating ESG issues into corporate strategies, both for SMEs and large listed companies".

Assolombarda's three-year strategic plan

Assolombarda outlined a Three-year strategic plan and a Sustainability Manifesto, focusing future actions on the diffusion of culture of sustainability, the reduction of environmental impact and community well-being.

In its first Sustainability Report, the association highlights virtuous ESG projects, training activities for employees and collaborations with local authorities. They were over 120 projects completed in the ESG space, involving more than 17.000 children and 386 schools in orientation initiatives, recognizing the importance of education in creating an equitable and sustainable society. Furthermore, more than 1.470 hours of training were dedicated to employees to encourage their professional growth. The association has also signed more than 50 agreements and protocols with municipal administrations, local authorities, universities and educational institutions, considered strategic stakeholders for the development of the local economy and the strengthening of the attractiveness of the territory.

From the Sustainability Report, which evaluates the impacts of Assolombarda's activities on the internal community and stakeholders, published according to the GRI reporting (Global Reporting Initiative), the decision emerges transform Assolombarda Servizi into a Benefit Company. This choice reflects the desire to associate the corporate theme with the aim of common benefit.

To promote good environmental practices and mitigate impacts on the environment, Assolombarda produces electricity from a photovoltaic system installed on the roof and is 42,8% supplied by certified renewable energy sources with Guarantee of Origin.

Collaborating with artist “NoCurves,” the association created a work of art with excess industrial adhesive tape, symbolizing the reuse of resources and metaphorically representing Assolombarda's Sustainability Report and action priorities. Sustainability, for the association, is a collective value expressed in the commitment called "Together Value."

Collaboration with “NoCurves”

To embody its concept of sustainability, Assolombarda has collaborated with the artist “NoCurves,” expert in “tape art” (the art of drawing with adhesive tape). This young, internationally recognized artist has created a unique work using industrial adhesive tapes in excess for the first Budget and the Association's Manifesto.

This approach represents a shift from waste to reuse of resources, giving new life to industrial waste through a contemporary work of art. In the work, different elements such as business, people and territory intertwine, outlining the ESG areas and becoming a perfect metaphor for Assolombarda's Sustainability Report and its action priorities.

“Sustainability, on the other hand, for Assolombarda it is an overall value, which is best expressed if the action is collective – he concluded Giovanni Tronchetti Provera –. It is no coincidence that "Together Value" is precisely the title of our Sustainability commitment".
