The resolution, signed by all the centre-right groups, was the only one on which the government gave a favourable opinion and therefore the only one to be voted on. In his speech in the Chamber, Giorgia Meloni he defended the government's strategy, stressing that "strengthening defense does not only mean buying weapons". In his reply, he also ruled out the possibility of a corrective maneuver and the possibility of a European army: "It is not on the agenda", he reiterated, calling the EU defense plan a "boisterous announcement compared to reality".
