The president of Rai, Marinella Soldi, was designated as independent non-executive director on the Board of Directors of with the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation).
The first time an Italian citizen joins the body that oversees the UK's largest broadcaster ensuring its commitment to public service.
The assignment is effective from 11 September and will last 3 years. The role of independent non-executive director on the BBC Board of Directors is compatible with the role of Rai President.
BBC: the structure of the Board of Directors
Il Cda of with the BBC consists 14 members, of which 4 are executive and 10 are non-executive. Among the 10 non-executive directors, half are appointed directly and the other half are chosen through a structured and transparent selection process proposed by the Appointments Committee. Non-executive members are responsible for bringing an external perspective, protecting the public interest and overseeing governance standards.
