Rfi: 360 million to redevelop over 50 stations

There are 4 new tenders launched and the financing is partly covered by Pnrr. The investment is aimed at transforming the stations into sustainable development hubs and improving their safety

Rfi: 360 million to redevelop over 50 stations

Italian Railway Network (RFI), the lead company of the FS Italiane Group's infrastructure pole, has announced the launch of four new tenders for the redevelopment and revitalization of over 50 stations, with total funding of over 360 million euros, part of which comes from the funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr).

The objectives and details of the competitions

These interventions aim to transform stations into intermodal nodes and poles of attraction for the development of the area, improving pedestrian and cycle accessibility, sustainability and energy efficiency, as well as eliminating architectural barriers and renovating the platform shelters.

The first tender, worth approx 295 million euro and also financed with Pnrr funds, it concerns extraordinary maintenance works in over 30 stations. In addition, a second tender worth over three million euros is underway for the construction of the new Tolentino Campus stop along the Civitanova Marche – Albacina railway line.

During the month of June, they were also awarded two tenders with a total value of over 65 million euros, also partially financed with Pnrr funds. These concern extraordinary maintenance, redevelopment and energy efficiency works of the passenger buildings and the external areas of the railway stations distributed throughout the national territory. The first tender, worth around 18 million euros, was awarded to Francesco Comune Costruzioni and the consortium formed by SE.GI and Maceg. The second tender, worth approximately 47 million euro, was won by the grouping made up of Quadrio Gaetano Costruzioni and D'adiutorio Costruzioni.

An important step for the vision of the company

These new tenders fall within the RFI overall plan, which envisages an investment of 5,3 billion euros over the next 10 years for the redevelopment of 460 stations and the development of 54 hubs, stations on underground lines and new stations.

The company undertakes to radically transform the stations, so that they become not only points of integrated mobility, but also safe, redeveloped places, full of functions and services for citizens. The goal is promote accessibility, connectivity, energy efficiency and intermodality, contributing to the progress of cities and the well-being of travellers.
