Pirelli and Bosch join forces to develop intelligent tires

Pirelli e Bosch they joined forces to create super technological tires for the car. This agreement aims to develop new software solutions and improve driving functions thanks to sensors integrated into tires, known as “in-tyre” sensors.

For drivers, a note explains, this translates into greater safety, comfort, and sustainability, as well as a smoother ride. Bosch and Pirelli intend to explore how data collected from tires can improve vehicle control and performance over time.

The Pirelli Cyber Tyre System

Il Pirelli Cyber Tyre system is the first in the world to integrate sensors into tires that collect and transmit data in real time to the vehicle. Bosch has already developed a specific stability control application for Pirelli tires, used for example in the Pagani Utopia Roadster. This system ensures optimal use of the tyre's performance, maximising safety and driving comfort.

With the new agreement, the note concludes, Bosch will bring its expertise in hardware and software, including MEMS sensors and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The Bicocca group, for its part, will add its integrated technologies, such as hardware, software, algorithms and modeling. Together, they will improve the collection and transmission of data from tires, making vehicles more efficient and less energy-intensive.
