The Alta Langa Docg collects the legacy of the first classic method in Italy, born in Piedmont in the mid-1800s
Alta Langa Docg inherits and continues the tradition of the first classic method in Italy, born in Piedmont in the mid-1800s. The denomination obtained the Doc in 2002 and the highest qualitative recognition of the Docg in 2011, and today has a production of over three million bottles. Alta Langa Docg is produced with Pinot Noir Chardonnay grapes between 90 and 100%, vinified pure or together in variable percentages; the blend can be integrated with 10% of grapes from vines authorized for cultivation within the area of origin, white or black in color but not aromatic. The typologies are white or rosé, in the brut or pas dosé versions and it uses a long aging time on the yeasts, as required by the specifications: at least 30 months. A distinctive feature of Alta Langa is that it is an exclusively vintage sparkling wine, that is, the fruit of a single harvest: each bottle always bears the year of the grape harvest on the label, inextricably linked to the particular characteristics of that specific harvest, carried out strictly by hand and with the grapes placed in small containers. It is produced in a high hilly area (over 250 meters above sea level) that encompasses the provinces of Asti, Cuneo and Alessandria: a land that from the Apennines sees the snow-capped peaks of the Alps and breathes the scent of the sea. A land that collects the legacy passed down by ancestors and kept intact for a long time without undergoing radical transformations. A precious territory, to be supported and discovered, with great biodiversity. A literary land, an extraordinary land rich in stories of resistance - war and culture -, which has faced the changing times without losing memory and identity.

In the days leading up to the event, ten renowned Roman venues will be the protagonists of a photo shoot that will bring the allure of Alta Langa DOCG to the Eternal City. Alta Langa DOCG will meet Roman restaurants to tell many stories of passion and mastery, from the dining room to the heart of the kitchens, in a photographic journey that celebrates the flavors and some of the protagonists of the Roman gastronomic scene. The shots will be published on the Consortium's social media channels to tell, through the face of Roman fine dining, the contemporary spirit of Alte Bollicine Piemontesi. The venues involved: Mirabelle, Follie del Villa Agrippina a Gran Meliá Hotel, L'Arcangelo, Armando al Pantheon, Sushisen, Romané di Stefano Callegari, Baccano, Idylio by Apreda del The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, Ai Piani, Osteria Chiari.
During the day, a new project by the Alta Langa Consortium will make its official debut, designed to tell the story of the territory of origin in an innovative way. The installation faithfully reproduces the contour lines of the Alta Langa DOCG area through a composition of thin layers of wood, superimposed and painted in the distinctive yellow-gold shade. Characterized by a modern and recognizable design, the model is designed to become an iconic element of the Consortium's events, offering geographical and narrative information on the extraordinary characteristics of the territory of origin. A sea of hills that bears the memory of an ancient marine basin and that today hosts the vineyards for the production of the Piedmontese classic method par excellence.
During the event, you can taste a special cocktail created for the occasion by Giacomo Colamarino, bar manager of Ai Piani Sottobanco: it is called Alta Langa Passion and combines Alta Langa DOCG with passion fruit syrup, lime juice, vodka, and a lime garnish. “Alta Langa DOCG is an Italian excellence that can also surprise when mixed: with its elegant character and structure, it was the perfect inspiration to create an exclusive cocktail, designed to celebrate the meeting between Piedmont and Rome,” comments Colamarino.
