OECD Superindex marks new decline in June

The weakening of the economy is global, according to the latest OECD data. The Composite Leading Indicator (Cli) has in fact suffered a generalized decline all over the world in the month of June. The index, which anticipates economic performance six to nine months after the survey, recorded a drop of 0,7 points in Italy and 0,3 in the OECD area. On an annual basis, however, our country fell by 3,1 points while the OECD average remains positive by 0,6 points.

However, it was the eurozone as a whole that was hit, recording an average drop of 0,6 points on the month and 1,5 points on last year. Germany and France both recorded declines of 1,3 and 1,8 superindex points year-on-year. The decrease for the United States was more contained, minus 0,1 points compared to the previous month, while the annual comparison remains positive by 2,8 points. Japan's CLI was down 0,2 points on the month and 1,3 points on the year.

The BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China) have also been affected, which although they do not belong to the OECD area, are among the leading economies in the world. The largest monthly decline is that of Brazil: minus 1,1 points in June and minus 4,7 points per year. In China the super-index fell 1,4 points year-on-year, India 5,6 points and Russia fell 0,3 points year-on-month but remained positive 2,7 points year-on-year.
