Good news for theItalian export.Istat estimate that in May trade with non-EU27 countries recorded a cyclical increase for the exports (+4,7%) and a slight decrease for the imports (-0,8%). The increase on a monthly basis in exports concerned all the main groupings of industries, with the exception of non-durable consumer goods (-0,9%), and was determined in particular by higher sales of capital goods (+7,6 %) and intermediate (+7,0%). On the import side, the cyclical decrease is mainly due to the decrease in energy purchases (-3,2%). Purchases of capital goods also decreased (-2,8%) while imports of consumer durables (+11,6%), non-durables (+2,4%) and intermediate goods increased with varying intensities (+0,7%).
The numbers of Italian exports on an annual basis
On an annual basis, exports grew by 26,2%. The increase, spread to all groupings, is particularly marked for i energy goods (+116,2%). Target markets
As regards the target markets, last May there were increases on an annual basis in exports to most of the main non-EU27 partner countries, Turkey (+58,4%), OPEC countries (+42,8%) and the USA (+42,5%) stand out. 9,5%). In particular, between January and April the sales of means of transport reported a good tendential increase in Japan (+16,9%), while they decreased in Germany (-2,9%) and Austria (-3,7%) . The export of rubber and plastic products recorded large increases towards Tokyo (+31,6%) and Vienna (+23,2%), against a below-average increase in Berlin (+14,4%) . Leather goods grew markedly in Japan (+23,5%) and Germany (+17,8%); however, the increase was rather limited in Austria (+3,4%).
