Gaza: more raids, over 40 Palestinian victims

The Israeli fire does not stop. Towards dawn, tanks and air raids by the Jewish state hit homes and a school in Jabalya, killing at least 43 people and injuring many others, a Health Ministry spokesman said. The total number of Palestinian victims since the start of the offensive thus rises to 1.245 people, mostly civilians. The Israeli victims are instead 56.

Meanwhile, the diplomatic front is enriched and complicated. Having registered the irritation of the United States, Israel must also face the discontent of fringes of the army, who are asking for a clear choice between advancing, penetrating into Gaza, or withdrawing, while the spokesman of Hamas, Sami Abu Zouhri, addressed the Arab rulers: "The children of Gaza are asking you to intervene".

Work also continues on truce proposals, especially the one advanced by Egypt, which had proposed an unconditional truce accepted by Israel and rejected by Hamas. The new offer will be presented to the Palestinian delegation soon.
