They are parties, today, i jobs for the realization of the Florence high-speed loop which provides for the railway under-crossing of the city and the new Firenze Belfiore AV station.
At the opening event they were present Matteo Salvini, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Eugenio Giani, President of the Tuscany Region, Dario Nardella, Mayor of Florence, Luigi Ferraris, Chief Executive Officer of the FS Italiane Group e Charles Luzzatto, Chief Executive Officer of Impresa Pizzarotti & C. “The project went through many critical moments over the years, but today we resume this path with determination and optimism that derives from the convinced support of the government, of the regional and municipal administrations" said Ferraris who also underlined the strategic importance of the work to "ensure the Florentines of today and tomorrow a sustainable infrastructure, which preserves the peculiarities of the city and brings benefits to the mobility of the entire country.”
The work will be carried out by the "Consorzio Florentia"
Italian Railway Network is the client of the work, while a Italferr the management of the works was assigned, for a total investment of approximately 2,7 billion euro. L'assignment of the works has been assigned last November, from RFI to a consortium (Florentia Consortium) made up of the companies Pizzarotti and Saipem. The society Infrarail it carried out "revamping" activities of the cutter: disassembly of the machine, overhaul, component replacement and reassembly. After turning on the cutter, thestart of excavation is scheduled forsummer 2023. At the same time as the excavation of the two tunnels, the works for the construction of the Belfiore station will also be carried out. The completion of the works is expected for the 2028.
The Passante AV of Florence
The Passante AV of Florence will allow the underground crossing of the city and will allow separate the flows of regional trains from high-speed ones, increasing the capacity of the surface network for the benefit of local traffic, and eliminating interference between the two services. The Passante AV will also improve the regularity of regional services and increase the capacity of the network, so as to enhance the offer by up to 50%. For the undercrossing they will be sdug two tunnels about 20 meters deep parallel, one for each direction, each about 7 kilometers long. Present every 500 of the security passages. To optimize the works, the tunnels will be built through two cutters. Along the underground route, less than 25 meters from the roadway, in the area of via Circondaria the new one will be made Florence Belfiore AV station.
Florence Belfiore AV Station
The station, served by high-speed trains, will be interconnected with the Santa Maria Novella station and with the entire surrounding urban area thanks to different modes of transport. The new station Florence Belfiore high-speed train it will be born in the Belfiore-Macelli area (adjacent to where the current railway area stands) along the underground route. The project was created by the studio of foster architecture and by the engineering company Ove Arup and partners. The construction envisages a structure measuring approximately 450 x 50 metres, with an area of approximately 45 square metres, placed up to 25 meters below street level, while the roof will rise approximately 18 meters in height. The project guarantees natural lighting, air exchange and smoke evacuation. The architectural element of greatest prominence will be a large glass roof supported by a steel structure. Firenze Belfiore will be a completely new type of station for the country. In fact, it will be an underground structure, in which even the lower levels enjoy natural lighting, thanks to the vertical configuration of the work, thus facilitating the orientation of travellers.
FS: the "Cantieri Parlanti" initiative presented
During the event FS Group also presented the project "Talking Shipyards", initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, for tell transparently le strategic works, their objectives and the progress of the works to local and national communities. An operation of transparency, as well as information, to illustrate the advantages of the work and provide updated data through panels placed inside the construction sites, but always clearly visible to the citizens and to those who transit on the lines and roads adjacent to the construction sites.
