Salvini comes to terms and the winner is the Ferraris line. Thus ended the round of appointments concerning the companies controlled by Ferrovie dello Stato: Trenitalia, Rfi and Mercitalia Logistics.
"With the renewal of the boards of directors of Rfi and Trenitalia and the appointment of the new managing director of Mercitalia Logistics, today a team is formed that will be able to face the challenges that await our group in the best possible way right from the start" - said the director delegate of the FS Group, Luigi Ferraris. "From the implementation of projects financed with the Pnrr, of which we are the main implementing body, to the objectives of our Business Plan which aims, among other things, at the development of an increasingly efficient, sustainable collective mobility infrastructure and services system and innovative. These names also represent an important recognition of skills and the professionalism existing within the group”, he concluded.
Appointments: another tug of war on Facebook, the Ferraris line wins
As has already happened with the other public subsidiaries - Eni, Enel, Poste, Leonardo and Terna - but also for the top management of Rai, the Guardia di Finanza and the Police, the appointments of FS were the subject of a tough tug of war between the President of the Advise Giorgia Meloni and the Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini.
Salvini had managed to "win", to the disappointment of the markets, on Enel (with the appointments of Paolo Scaroni as president and Flavio Cattaneo as CEO) and on the Police (with Vittorio Pisani), on Fs instead the line prevails Melons. Or better the Ferrari line, because it was precisely the current number one of Ferrovie dello Stato, Luigi Ferraris, who advocated for Rfi the choice of a internal manager (Salvini, on the contrary, asked for an external one from Tim) who knew the company well. A proposal accepted and supported by Meloni, but also by the Minister for European Affairs Raffaele Fitto.
The appointments of Trenitalia, Rfi and Mercitalia Logistics
The shareholders' meetings of the companies Rfi, Trenitalia and Mercitalia Logistics, wholly controlled by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, met today.
Let's start from the first: the shareholders' meeting of RFI appointed the new board of directors, which will remain in office until 2025. Dario Lo Bosco was elected to the presidency, while the managing director is Giampiero Strisciuglio, who therefore leaves the position of CEO of Mercitalia Logistics.
The new board of directors has also been appointed Trenitalia, also in this case for the three-year period 2023-2025. Stephen Cuzzilla will hold the position of president, while Louis Corradi is confirmed in the role of managing director. "Stefano Cuzzilla has left his position as a member of the Board of Directors of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane", underlines FS in a note.
Finally, the assembly of Mercitalia Logistics appointed adviser Sabrina De Filippis appointing her as managing director to replace the outgoing Gianpiero Strisciuglio. De Filippis has left his position as Trenitalia Regional Business Director.
The next steps
The managing directors indicated by the three companies will be officially appointed to the first board meeting and “they will all have the operational delegations”, emphasizes Fs.
The president, Nicoletta Giadrossi, and the managing director, Luigi Ferraris, on behalf of the entire FS Italiane Group, thank the outgoing boards of directors, in particular the President of Rfi, Anna Masutti, the managing director of Rfi, Vera Fiorani, and the president of Trenitalia, Michele Pompeo Meta, for the precious work done.
"A heartfelt thanks and sincere wishes for a good job for his new important role in the Group - concludes the note - also to the outgoing director of FS Italiane, Stefano Cuzzilla".
