The CEO of FCA, Sergio Marchionne, confirmed the group's targets for 2016 and indicated that the second quarter "is in line with expectations".
As for the planned cuts for the Serbian plant where the 500L is produced, Marchionne said on the sidelines of the 2016 Workshop of the Council for Italy-USA relations that “there were expectations for the 500L for the American market that were perhaps too high. Then it aligned itself with what the European market is doing. The increase in SUVs has greatly benefited our group, it has displaced the MPVs, there has been a change from one segment to another”.
Orders for the new Giulia, on the other hand, “are going well – added the CEO -. We are preparing for the international launch. The car liked. Orders for the Maserati Levante SUV are starting now, they're fine. The Levante will have a huge space in the American market, the real future is there”.
Finally, regarding the possible exit of Great Britain from the EU following the referendum of June 23, Marchionne said that it would have “a minimal industrial impact for FCA. For Europe, the risk is enormous, it should not be underestimated. The real question is what would remain of Europe”.
