Enel makes money in the United States. The energy multinational has finalized the cession of a portfolio of renewable assets, including solar and geothermal plants in the US, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Enel Green Power North America, to Ormat Technologies for an amount of 271 million dollars (approximately 255 million euros). The announcement of this transaction was made last October, and today, Thursday 4 December, it was finalized. The sale concerns a whole range of plants, including geothermal ones and some small solar plants, with a total capacity of 150 megawatts. Despite this, a note specifies, Enel maintains its leading position in renewable energy in the US, with a consolidated capacity of over 8 gigawatts, thanks to wind, solar and storage plants.
The transaction, completed after the satisfaction of conditions precedent, will have a positive impact on the consolidated net debt of the Enel group of approximately 250 million euros and a negative impact of approximately 30 million euros on the net result, without affecting the ordinary economic results .
At the moment the title Enel travels in positive territory around 6,68 euros per share (+0,88%).
