Enel and Inpex: Australia becomes a hub for green hydrogen, possible collaboration also in Japan

Inpex, Japan's largest oil and gas exploration and production company, chose Australia to develop renewable energy projects, with the aim of also transforming the country into a hub for the production of green hydrogen. The planned investment is over 200 billion yen (about 1,25 billion dollars). A good news for Enel, which he holds a 50% share in the EGPA joint venture (Enel Green Power Australia) with the Japanese company.

By 2030, Enel Green Power Australia aims to increase its installed capacity from the current 300 megawatts to 2 gigawatts, focusing on a mix of solar, onshore wind and storage systems.

First project of the JV: Quorn Park

Inpex's financial commitment was preceded by the final investment decision on Quorn Park, hybrid solar generation and storage project of 98 megawatts, located in New South Wales. This represents the first joint project of the JV created last year and marks the beginning of a series of initiatives that will see collaboration between the two companies.

Possible collaboration also in Japan

It is not only in the land of kangaroos that Enel could collaborate with Inpex. Thanks to the joint venture, the Japanese company has given a strong boost to its renewable energy projects. Inpex might too contact Enel Green Power for technical support in construction of wind farms and geothermal power plants in Japan.

Agreement in Brazil with Unicamp

Meanwhile, during the institutional visit of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, agreements involving the Italian company were signed in Brazil. The CEO of Enel, Flavio Cattaneo, together with the Country Manager, Antonio Scala, has signed a scientific-technological partnership with the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp). The partnership with Unicamp further strengthens Enel's presence in Brazil, promoting collaboration in innovative projects that can improve the sustainability and resilience of electricity networks.

Il Brazil plays a crucial role in the strategy of Enel's growth.
