The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has signed a cooperation agreement in the field of safety and environmental sustainability with Enav, the company that manages air traffic in Italy.
The first project connected to the new partnership concerns the technical and operational collaboration to support aviation in Africa from a safety point of view.
EASA is implementing "an EU program to promote aviation safety in Africa - reads a statement from the Italian body - both in the north and in the sub-Saharan area, regions where the ENAV Group is already active for provision of services and expertise for air traffic management”.
The cooperation "may concern support activities in the field of air navigation services, development of UTM platforms (Unmanned Traffic Management - drone traffic management), satellite control and training of air traffic controllers", concludes the note.
