Cop 28 Dubai: Meloni chooses the pragmatic line on the climate. And on the magistrates: "No clash but some oppose us"

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at COP 28 Dubai: "Italy is for a non-ideological ecological transition". Alliance of 20 countries to triple nuclear power by 2050

Cop 28 Dubai: Meloni chooses the pragmatic line on the climate. And on the magistrates: "No clash but some oppose us"

Italy is doing its part in decarbonisation but "in a pragmatic way, that is, with a technologically neutral approach, free from unnecessary radicalism". Giorgia Meloni speak to Cop 28 in Dubai and explains, in front of the other Heads of State and Government, Italy's position after having announced the day before that the Italian Government is ready to participate with 100 million to the Loss & Damage Fund which compensates poorer countries for the damage caused by richer ones in terms of global warming. The Dubai conference is an opportunity for an "out of the bag", stimulated by questions from journalists, on the relationships between magistrates and politics after the interview with Defense Minister Crosetto. Giorgia Meloni replies: "A small part of the judiciary opposes the government."

Cop 28 Dubai: Meloni explains Italy's line

The will of Europe, that of triple renewable energy generation by 2030 and double energy efficiency, was recalled by Giorgia Meloni's speech at the Cop 28 in Dubai. “Italy is doing its part in the process decarbonization in a pragmatic way with an approach" that respects technological neutrality and is "free from radicalism: if we want to be effective" we need "environmental sustainability that does not compromise the economic and social sphere, an ecological and non-ideological transition".

What does this mean in concrete terms? It means that Italy remains neutral in terms of technologies, including both renewables and electric cars but also, for example, capture and storage of CO2 that environmentalists do not approve of or biofuels on which a game is open with the EU so that they can be included in the energy transition.

In Dubai there is also an alliance to triple nuclear power by 2050

Staying on the subject of energy, at COP 28 Dubai 20 countries signed a declaration asking for triple nuclear energy by 2050 to achieve the objectives of zero net emissions. Here are the signatory countries: Bulgaria, Canada, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Finland, France, Ghana, Japan, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Hungary, United Kingdom and United States United.

Meloni on magistrates: "No clash but some oppose our measures"

Outside of the topic of energy and climate being discussed at COP 28 Dubai, journalists asked the prime minister questions on the hot topic of relations with the judiciary. “I think that there is no clash between politics and the judiciary,” Meloni said again, “this does not mean failing to point out that there are problems in every area, and the problem in a small part of the judiciary is believing that the measures of some governments that are not in line with a certain vision of the world must be opposed, as happened for example onimmigration".

Sul Delmastro case, "some magistrates believe that he should be sent to trial, the prosecutor that the case should be archived, at this point it is appropriate to wait for a final sentence before declaring him guilty", stated Meloni again
