Cassa Depositi e Prestiti joined Open-es, the alliance that promotes the competitiveness e sustainability of businesses through an open and free digital platform, launched by Eni at the beginning of 2021. This initiative aims to support Italian companies in evaluating and improving their environmental, social and governance (ESG) characteristics. With the participation of CDP, the number of large Italian companies promoting the initiative has now risen to 26.
Open-es aims to combine the forces of the main industrial, financial and institutional entities to facilitate theadoption of ESG criteria, promoting common models compliant with current regulatory standards. Currently, the platform has more than 20 thousand companies in 65 industrial sectors.
The importance of sustainability in value chains
For CDP, a note explains, this represents a step forward in the sustainable transformation path started with the Strategic Plan 2022-2024. The Group has integrated ESG criteria into the evaluations of its business choices and the selection of suppliers. At the end of 2023, Cdp's supply chain was increasingly sustainable, with approximately 70% of purchases coming from suppliers with environmental certifications and over 88% from companies with social and governance certifications. In September 2023, the Board of Directors approved a general Policy on Responsible Procurement, including a specific Code of Conduct for Suppliers.
The commitment in Open-es for Cassa Depositi Prestiti - continues the note - will facilitate the involvement of its suppliers and support the companies served in achieving the target of carbon neutrality by 2050. In June 2023, CDP started the objective of reducing portfolio emission intensity by 30% by 2030 compared to 2022, recording a 7% decrease in overall emission intensity to date.
This partnership, concludes the Cassa, consolidates Cdp's role in promoting sustainable development and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
