Ansaldo, contacts between the Government and General Electric

Contacts with General Electric have already started. This is the latest move by the Government in the context of the search for the international majority shareholder of a holding company Ansaldo Trasporti, into which Ansaldo Sts and a reorganized Ansaldo Breda, now controlled by Finmeccanica, will converge.

This was written by Fim-Cisl in a note released after the meeting held, together with Fiom and Uilm, with the undersecretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, Claudio De Vincenti.

Today, writes the metalworkers' union, the government's research "will start from the discussion already started with General Electric for the transport companies with which it is considering whether to also include Firema".

"The government is working on the hypothesis of a sort of Ansaldo Holding with two sectors (energy and transport) in order to seek majority international partnerships and keep Ansaldo in the hands of minority but significant stakes" writes the Fim-Cisl.

For the significant minority stake in Italian hands, the subject indicated is Fondo Strategico Italiano, which has been temporarily the majority shareholder of Ansaldo Energia for a few days. Prime Minister Enrico Letta recently spoke of an Italian transport hub in which Ansaldo Sts and Ansaldo Breda would merge.

On the Stock Exchange, Ansaldo Sts gains almost 4% around 16.30pm. Finmeccanica, on the other hand, lost 3,87%.
