Flight AI171, which departed with a slight delay at 10:05 local time, lost contact with the control tower at 10:08, less than a minute after takeoffAccording to initial reconstructions, the plane sent a Mayday signal before crashing into a residential area adjacent to the airport, breaking through the roof of a medical school dormitory. It was about 650 meters above the ground and flying at 325 km/h at the time of the accident.

The images released showed burning wreckage and thick black smoke billowing into the sky. People were also shown being carried on stretchers and taken away in ambulances, but the number of injured o victims: more than 290 victims are estimated.
