Spain has placed 6,6 billion euros in medium-long term securities, demand much higher than forecasts, which gave a range of 3,5-4,5 billion euros.
They have been assigned 1,3 billion euro in five-year bonds (coupon 4,25%) with an average yield rising to 4,021% (previous auction 3,912%) and a bid to cover ratio of 3,2 (previous auction 1,7). 2,3 billion government bonds maturing in July 2019 (coupon 4,60%) were then placed, with an average yield down to 4,541% from 5,11% in the previous auction (bid to cover ratio at 2 ).
The yield on the security maturing in 2022 (about 3 billion placed) instead fell to 5,403% from 6,975% offered in the November auction. The demand was equal to 2,17 times the amount offered, up from 1,54 times.
