730 pre-compiled 2020: deadlines postponed, refunds late

The forms should have already been accessible, but will only be made available from 5 May - The postponement of deadlines risks postponing the Irpef refunds to the autumn

730 pre-compiled 2020: deadlines postponed, refunds late

Il 730 pre-filled 2020 it had to be accessible from 15th April, but whoever tried to download it from the Agenzia delle Entrate website was in for a nasty surprise. Among the various tax deadlines postponed by the government with the Cura Italia decreein fact, the date from which 30 million Italian taxpayers will be able to view their 730 pre-compiled 2020 is also included: the new box to circle on the calendar is that of 5 May.

Unfortunately - unlike what happens with other obligations - when it comes to tax returns, slippages can damage taxpayers, because they expose the risk of receiving a late refund of tax credits, an extra income on which many rely, even more so this year, in the midst of the coronavirus emergency.

It is true that, in theory, this is not a foregone conclusion. According to the Revenue Agency, Irpef refunds will arrive in the paycheck with the usual timing (June or July) to all taxpayers who will send the form before May.

The problem is that the government has also decided to do postpone the deadline for the presentation of the pre-compiled 730 2020 (but also the ordinary one) 23 30 from July to September, aligning the calendar with that of the income model.

This means that anyone who entrusts the presentation of the 730 to the withholding agent or an intermediary (Caf, accountant, labor consultant) could have the declaration sent in September, with the consequent postponement of repayments to October or November.

To be sure of closing the file by May and collecting the refunds in the summer, therefore, it is necessary send by yourself the 730 pre-compiled 2020 to the tax authorities.

On the other hand, even those who choose this path could have difficulties. The reason? Simple: with the Liquidity decree the government has moved from 31 March to 30 April the deadline for sending the Single Certification data. Now, with deliveries of the CUs so close, is it really credible that 30 million pre-filled declarations will be accessible as early as May 5? All that remains is to wait.

  1. The availability of the pre-filled since April has always been ALSO for self-doing taxpayers. I am a private citizen, and not a CAF, and in past years I have always downloaded the pre-compiled form in mid-April, to then send it in May.

  2. I would add that even if the submission deadline has been postponed to September, it is not forbidden to submit the 730 in the months before, even through the CAF.
Not all taxpayers are on credit, there are also those who are in debt, and these will be facilitated in having to pay the due in the months ahead of the previous years.

  3. There is nothing new, it has already been announced for some time that the deadline was postponed to September, as it would be from next year, they have only brought it forward to 2020.
The availability of the pre-compiled form in April is for CAF use, as it always has been. Since May 5, it has been available to taxpayers who want to go it alone, as it always has been. No delays or news, we are normal
