The antagonists attempted to reach Piazza San Carlo, where the May Day rallies were taking place. There were three attempts, according to the Police Headquarters. The police, placed at a barrier, stood between them and prevented the demonstrators from deviating from the authorized route.

Finally, from Istanbul, the Turkish police have announced that they have arrested 165 people, many of whom are demonstrators who were trying to reach the symbolic Taksim square on May 18, despite the ban by the authorities who had closed the square for the third year consecutive. According to the local security department, another XNUMX people were arrested - in another police operation - on charges of organizing unauthorized demonstrations and carrying out acts of violence.
