May 1: no trips? The picnic is done at home

Parks still closed? No problem, the picnic can be done at home, in the living room or on the balcony, thanks to the kit with traditional regional products, on sale thanks to the Coldiretti initiative which involved the farmers of Campagna Amica. Until tomorrow it is therefore possible to buy special packed lunch baskets as well as of course real complete menus or grills for Labor Day, also delivered to homes by farmhouses. In fact, for May XNUMX all families are still forced to stay at home due to the lockdown, while last year 23% of Italians had planned a trip, 10% a holiday, 8% a visit to relatives and 7% participation in concerts and events.

But what does this cute emergency kit contain? For example in Rome, it provides the inevitable ingredients of the party such as castle wine, pecorino cheese, coralline salami, bread and the classic fresh broad beans which in the (leap) year of the pandemic often have a "crooked" mood. But Campagna Amica's proposals for the picnic saver pack vary from region to region and if in Liguria it contains cheeses, cured meats and focaccia, in Puglia and Bari the 'Pacco Amico' contains fresh produce, Altamura DOP bread, Nero di Troia wine, a goat caciotta and Faeto sausage with fennel while in the Veneto region one experiences the agribag with boiled eggs with asparagus, omelette with onion, salami, toasted bread and for dessert the fregolott, a crumbled cake accompanied by a bottle of Prosecco or for red purists the traditional Merlot.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of the basket of specialties offered by theItalian agriculture which is today the greenest in Europe, with 299 Dop/Igp specialties recognized at community level and 415 Doc/Docg wines, 5155 traditional regional products surveyed along the peninsula, the leadership in the organic sector with over 60 organic farms, 40 farms involved in keeping seeds or plants at risk of extinction and the primacy of world food security with the least number of agri-food products with irregular chemical residues. AND Italy is also a leader in biodiversity. On the national territory there are 504 varieties registered in the vine register against the 278 of the French cousins and 533 varieties of olives against the 70 Spanish ones.
